Tools Of The Trade
The Internet is a great place for finding information about anything – but where do you start looking for general information and inspiration about business issues? One great – and free! – resource that we have discovered is
www.businessballs.com. This is a website that is absolutely crammed with useful details – including a wide range of marketing, management and training tools and resources.
The webite was launched in 1999 as a free ethical learning and development resource for people and businesses, having previously started as an experimental online collection of learning and development ideas. It was created by Alan Chapman, who named it after the juggling balls he used in his training and development business.
In January this year, the website also introduced free publishing, advertising and sharing space, so that visitors can contribute their own ideas and experience.
Bursting with information!
As we mentioned, businessballs.com contains a host of information that will be useful to insight professionals. This includes:
- Explanations of all the main marketing and business models – including SWOT; PEST; Porter’s 5 forces; Herzberg Motivators; Maslow’s hierarchy of needs;
- Johari window; and emotional intelligence competence.
- A wide array of HR resources – including appraisal templates; time management tools; and organisational change management.
- Management and leadership theories and models – including stress management; learning models; management training; and templates for business planning and report planning.
The site is also packed with funny and inspiring stories and quotes (for instance, check out the Air Traffic Controllers’ Funny Quotes!). There is also an exhaustive list of different acronyms and a wealth of mind-bending and mind-expanding games, quizzes and team exercises – many of which contain useful lessons.
All of these items can be used free of charge, and most can be easily downloaded – so why not pay the site a visit?
